The difference between the coverage of the deaths and illnesses of third and first world leaders

Coverage of Castro's slow demise is cracking me up. Is there not a third world country who can allow the truth to be told? Remember Arafat's death? Now contrast that with the coverage of Sharon's stroke in Israel.

A third world dictator, especially one who runs around in a military uniform his whole life, just can't be allowed to look weak to his people. Up until the day he dies he has keep up the appearance of strength. Even while he is in the hospital having his diapers changed.

This doesn't have anything to do with this post but I read a comment by you from several months ago on the blog no pasaran. You said the French make nothing of watching a woman being tormented... Well I am French, and when this movie was released there was a BIG controversy. Many people found this film SICK. So please don't say BS about islam fundamentalists (?!?) The average French person is far from being pro islam fundamentalists, and there are quite a lot of people who are anti Islam altogether... And if you want to talk about sordid subjects in movies I read that the American child actress Dakota Fanning is going to star in a movie where she will play a young girl who is sexually abused. Does that American people like to watch little girls get raped? Or that your country is run over by terrorists? No, it's just a movie. Please don't talk about a subject you don't know.

  2. I saw the movie. It was a big hit in France. The Dakota Fanning movie will not have graphic anal rape and torture scenes, I guarantee you. I will say whatever I want. We have freedom of speech here in the US. We can print cartoons without incurring riots.
