If the Democrats were really worried about global warming,
they'd stop driving today. I figure it's about evenly split between the Dems and Repubs right? The presidential election proved that. So, the Dems could actually cut global warming and greenhouse gas emissions in half, if they'd just give up their vehicles, it's that simple. Since we have freedom of choice in this country, the Repubs could keep driving their vehicles..

This is about the most ridiculous comment I've ever read - hard to tell though since so many of your other ones are ridiculous bordering on insane. Why would Dems give up their vehicles? Don't any repubs care about the environment? The govt should be forcing auto manufacuturers to create environmentally friendly vehicles, should be bankrolling public transportation so that those of us willing to use it have something to use!!!!!!!!!!!!! THEN we would be happy to give up our vehicles.
Why is it ridiculous? It makes sense to me. The Democrats are always saying that the Repubs don't give a damn about the environment. If that's true, then they have to take matters into their own hands. As for public transportation,I take it everyday, I have never owned a car and never plan to. I suspect you are unaware of exactly how much the goverment does subsidise transit systems accross the country. Maybe you should research it a little and find out. The truth is Americans love their cars and won't give them up. The immense subsidies Americans pay towards public transit is what's ridiculous. It will never be self supporting and not enough Americans use it to make it worth the money spent on it. A columnist just did a tongue in cheek essay positing the idea that public transportation would be utilized if it were to resemble a roller coaster. Since people are willing to pay a lot of money to ride roller coasters and even to stand in line for an hour and a half to ride one. How about Amtrak, the most money losing transportation system on earth, putting some loop de loops in the tracks. I also find it telling that you feel the government should FORCE auto manufacturers to make environmentally friendly vehicles.
The government forcing people to do things they do not want to do is what the government is ultimately all about. So of course the government should be forcing the auto makers to make cars that people do not want to buy. Next up, the government will force people like EAPrez to buy them. Liberalism is nice like that.
