Deer and beaver lovers unite

Until a few days ago there was a beaver dam on a creek in Martinez, Ca. The recent storms washed it away. Lately there's been a bunch of enraged beaver lovers on the news, frothing at the mouth whilst threatening the city council of Martinez, because they suspect that the beaver dam was not removed by the massive, monsoon like rain storms we've had, but by evil, sneaky city workers who hate beavers.

At Point Reyes, Ca we have a group of "deer lovers" upset about the culling of deer.

"These deer are not the brown deer which eat your roses,” said Testa. “These deer are quite isolated in the wilderness. They’re iconic to the community. I’ve lived here 23 years, and people come from afar to see these deer. They’re very majestic. They’re beautiful white deer that graze in the meadow, and basically do nothing.”

If only we could get these people as worked up over killings in the inner city. Perhaps it's because the denizens are mostly "brown" and not "white" "beautiful" and "majestic".

Rats with antlers.

In my time as a prosecutor, the only cases I've ever had any stuff from the uninvolved public- letters, petitions, telephone calls- have been cases of animal cruelty.
