Bush's combat by proxy!

Bush is risking death by going to Pakistan. He is in serious danger of losing his life. None of you leftists can say that he is afraid to go into combat. I, for one, am terrified that he will be killed. You leftists had better be too. Cheney could be President by tomorrow.

I came to your site from no pasaran, where you commented on "Pascal"; I have read many of Buckner's books and essays and have always found him to be precise and cogent. Also, your analysis of emasculation and violence seems to me to hit it on the head. I look forward to reading your posts in the future.

Thanks Brad, I am checking to see if you have a blog too. I read Tears of the Whiteman abuout 15 years ago and it really opened my eyes. Do you read Theodore Dalrymple also? I am addicted to his essays right now.

Bush the hero, not scared to go to Pakistan? Either you are an excellent spoofer or you are mad as a bat.

The way the US Military and Justice systems work, this guy will get away with blaming the dog.

Funny you should mention Dalrymple; I just bought "Our culture, what's left of it" a couple weeks ago, and I have been reading the essays in my spare time. It's amazing the clarity and honesty he brings to the page. One of the best in that collection is "How - and how not - to love mankind" comparing Marx and Turgenev, as writers and people. Short and sweet. And the way he questions the present state of society, as in "A horror story" is absent in nearly all non-polemical writing.
No, I don't have a blog; I do biochem reserach in academia; no time left for fun.

Yes, I can imagine that you have little time for writing yourself. I am amazed that your mind is both scientific and philosophical!
