The truth is that the Taliban are worthless fighters. It's just urban legend that they are worthy opponents. They could never have beaten the Russians without US help. Let's face facts, these people can't make their own modern weapons. They don't have ships or helicopters to resupply themselves with. They don't have highly trained medical personel. They don't have plasma substitutes. They are are stone age, rag tag groups, fighting against highly developed technology.

Is it ok if you profess the same religion ? Well, it´s ok as long as the afghans welcome you and accept your presence. I went to Afghanistan few years ago : I´m not muslim but catholic (but french !) No problem at all ! Is it dangerous ? you bet it is ! But as they once told me in Pakistan "you just have to avoid the americans".

As for Osama helping the resistance, I can not deny he was a valuable leader and soldier. like I said, the US did more to help the Afghans beat the Russians than Osama did. The Taliban also did a good thing when it began to rescue many Afghans from the depredations of the Afghan fighters who were engaging in violence and rape. But the taliban went overboard and became oppressors themselves. While Muslims consider all Muslims to be their people, I consider women to be mine. Seeing the plight of Algerian women in France is bad enough, but the horrors women and young girls suffer just for being female and Muslim in countries run by Sharia law makes me see red.

Do you have a concept of the difference between a country that is Democratic, where a woman has resources to leave an abusive relationship? There are abusers all over the world, however in most Western countries there are laws against such abuse. The taliban institutes laws for the abuse of women, an entirely different state of affairs than in Spain.
