No wonder the Arabs are pissed at the French!

I was watching the incredibly good French movie, Cache, directed by a German, Michael Haneke. The story centers around an incident I was unaware of. In 1961, the French massacred over a 100 Algerian protesters and threw their bodies in the Seine.

The French are certainly quick to cast blame at the US and Israel for even the supposed killing of 1 Palestinian boy. It's to detract the world form their own culpability and sins. Pascal Bruckner's book, Tears Of the White Man, illustrates this in detail. Vietnam gave the failed societies and states of the non-American world something to point to to say that the US was not as pure and good as she was thought to be. Vietnam was just the head of the boil, so to speak, of the multitudes of America's crimes.

Of course many of the atrocities committed in North America were committed by "Europeans." Spanish, French, Dutch and British people came to this country and imported slavery and killed the Natives. A generation after we became "Americans," we decided to forcibly end the institutions brought here by "Europeans."
