Quack Watch article debunks Multiple Chemical Sensitivity

I have been reading a lot of the material in the MCS's on line community support groups. Articles like, "I was poisoned by my body" and other insane ramblings of mentally disturbed hypochondriacs.
Click on the link and read the article by MD Stephen Barrett. He debunks the fad faux disease in no uncertain terms. He mentions in the article that there really is no satisfying the people with this supposed disease as the demands for accommodation never end.
Here are some of the symptoms of the non disorder.
"itching of the nose, watery or burning eyes, plugged ears, a feeling of fullness in the ears, ringing ears, dry mouth, scratchy throat, an odd taste in the mouth, tiredness, headache, nausea, dizziness, abdominal discomfort, tingling of the face or scalp, tightness or pressure in the head, disorientation, difficulty breathing, depression, chills, coughing, nervousness, intestinal gas or rumbling, and aching legs."
The symptoms experienced by the MCS "sufferers" are naturally occuring body fluctuations that everyone experiences from time to time on any given day, or even on a daily basis. It's only that the rest of us realize that none of this stuff is serious. The MCS people seem unable to understand that their "symptoms" are commonly felt, and dismissed as unimportant by most people.

Oh, aren't you clever? I suffer from MCS and what I wouldn't do to cast it off onto you. Then you'd see just how clever you are. Jerk!

oOH! .. I thought when you typed QuackWatch you meant the guy who wrote the Paper!

NO THIS is one of those dangerous papers that I really wish wasn't written like this.

I can see his point of view if it comes to how other doctors are defining it or testing for it and building theories etc. or people going overboard with expectations etc. BUT! .."Chemical Sensitivity" is something basic that LOTS of people know exists and how it works etc. .. just talk to anybody in the FX Business or who works with Urethanes and Silicones etc.

I got a BIG Overdose of Liquid Nails for a couple nights (on top of 4 days of mixing 3 different kinds of urethanes) and couldn't stand for 11 days, blood tase in the mouth, numb teeth and for months couldn't walk for more than 1/3rd of a block at a time without resting, AND ..of course became sensitive to Lots of other things (gas stoves, sugar, industrial urethanes, cleansers ..Home Depot! : ) lol ..AND ..as the symptoms faded the sensitivity to everything else went away which was great.

But literally 1 out of 11 doctors I saw didn't even listen to symptoms. They'ed plug you into the ekg and say you're fine ..send you home and send you a bill ..OH and "well you sEEM a little Anxious how about I give you some XANEX" .. !! ... wow ... .. i mean I had some serious stuff the heart was doing and neurological problems and the BIG problem seemed to be that somewhere along the lines they misread some paper just like this and thought that it meant that everybody that comes in with Chemical Overexposure it's just psychosomatic ..thAT'S Crazy!

He Mentions a couple times that you get symptoms from overexposure etc. .. but then goes on and on about people suing or wanting all sorts of crazy accomodations ..
I dunno I don't know WHO this guy has been MeetinG but writing a paper like that has made it hard for people who have been suffering major problems from industrial chemical overexposures etc.

I wonder what the nurses who've developed bad reactions from their latex allergies from the gloves think of this guy.
