In Afghanistan we need to be meaner than the Taliban in order to win the war

I was watching the Taylor-Pavlik boxing match the other day. The two fighters were pretty evenly matched and were respectful of each other, so after each round they would touch gloves to show their mutual admiration.

Finally, Kelly Pavlik went back to his corner and his trainer said, (I disremember the exact words but here's the essence) "Stop this touching gloves bullshit. He's making you like him, stop that shit. You don't need to be friendly with him, you need to get out there and beat his ass."

He was right. The general Afghan population is more frightened of the Taliban than they are of us. Why? Because we are too nice that's why. We need to make the Afghans more frightened of us than they are of the Taliban. A lot of them are sure that the lefties will make us pull out of Afghanistan and they will be left with the Taliban who will accuse them of aiding the US and execute them and their family members.

Right now if they don't aid us, they have little to fear from us. We need to make them afraid to support the Taliban and afraid to cross the US. Americans always want to be liked, it's a stupid and self defeating desire.

My little Pussycat Carniv, I adore you, because I feel you believe in what you say. But ... But? But guess who once gave to the Bad Talibans the money, the arms and the Springer rockets they are using now.

We were their allies but then they got too big for their pantalones and trained people to fly planes into our buildings. Now they are our sworn enemies and we must kill them.

Just as the French and the Italians were our enemies and then our friends and now our enemies again. It is always fluid.

Springer rockets?

Do they have children by their husbands' sons, then throw chairs at their targets?

(I suspect that Herr Strudel means STINGERs, all of the ones we provided are now almost certainly fired, destroyed, or spoiled by age and none of which have yet been used against us. )

Ja, STINGERS. Sorry.
Is the Usa strategy in the Middle East rather shortsighted?
The enemy of my (temporary)enemy
is always my friend, means:

Support was given to Talibans in Afhanistan against Soviet Union.
(Talibans were the free brave people of Afghanisan then.)

Support was given to Saddam Hussein against everybody else.

Support was given to everybody (Included the Shias in Iran)against Saddam.

You can see this strategy operating in Crapistan (former URSS) countries too.

Support is given to every Crappy goverment against Russia.

Well, nobody is perfect and every strategy has its odds.

My suggestion for the past 30 years:

Place large nukes in thousands of cities around the world in a building that is occupied by special teams of U.S. soldiers. The soldiers live there, take shifts, do whatever the hell they want to without being messed with by the locals and I guess, don't mind nuking themselves if necessary.

The nukes have a countdown timer that has to be reset by the team at intervals, have overrides in case of timer problems, have motion sensors (more currently GPS's) to prevent movement except maybe an earthquate, and can be set off by the team if needed.

If something cataclysmic or epidemic ever happened to cause the deaths of the teams, even by accident, someone from the U.S. would have to reach each nuke and reset it by the time the timer counted down or too bad for that city. Possibly, there could be remote activation/deactivation of the nukes from off site.

Basically, the sign on the door say "Screw with us, then you are really screwed." More effective than suitcase nukes with a hint of a threat.

dear Mr. Ralph, I realize a non-irrelevant percentage of North-Americans love war games. Would you mind playing it home? What about a little civil war? Mississippi versus New York, say.
Best regards

You know Strudel, America gave you your freedoms and we paid for it with our blood. Europe spent a good deal of time previous to that causing wars and colonising, America, Africa and other places in Europe. You killed millions and millions of people. Why should we take your advice?

America does not form colonies, we get in and get out, maybe leaving a base or something to protect the people from commies. The resources belong to the people of those countries. Europeans are the robbers and thugs who raped and pillaged all over the world.

Now that you've been emasculated by socialist living for many years you want us to become like you, because you have not the guts to fight any more. No wonder you are afraid of us. Europe is a toothless old lion.

The Italians are our enemies?!
Say it ain't so!
I love the Italians.
I grew up in an Italian neighborhood.
My best friend, Bobby Marotta, was Italian.
His mother used to run around the kitchen, with the tomato sauce bubbling on the stove top, screaming "Jesus, Mary and Saint Joseph!"
They all had gardens behind their little row houses.
Hard workers, you wouldn't believe it.
Minded their own business.
I love them so.
The Italians, our enemies?
It can't be.

PRIVATE - Oh, Sweet Carniv this old lion would really bite your round bum with love. (Of which -the bum- he is still waiting for a pic.)

PUBLIC - you fu*ing Americans drop printing bucks, to buy from us what you cannot afford, and work harder instead. Last year I bought a few Gazprom shares USD denominated, betting on a rise of oil price. But you spoiled everything making the dollar shrink. Shrink? SINK !!!

"Jesus, Mary and Saint Joseph!"

I am waiting for the Persians to do to New York what they said that they wanted to do to it in 1978, which is nuke it. They are really slow in meeting their goals.

Me personal choice would be to nuke Damascus and Paris, but I am not allowed to have that much fun, only to sit on the sidelines and watch.

A) Europe is a toothless old lion.

BOEING SUCKS - EADS buoyed by US tanker plane order
Washington's decision to choose a partnership of Northrop Grumman and EADS to build a fleet of refuelling planes for the US Air Force has been hailed as a major boost for the European aerospace firm.
To deflect political criticism in the Northrop Grumman is stressing the high US content, but EADS Chief Executive Louis Gallois said: "We will...

B)No wonder you are afraid of us.

SWEETIE, don't forget to buy that new playstation for Ralphie.

C) It is always fluid.

SWEETIE, don't forget to buy a carpetbeater for you too, in case I catch Miss Fluidity dating that Jack.

D)The Italians, our enemies?
It can't be.

THE COUNTRY that gave birth to Stan Laurel, Oliver Hardy and Miss Legs Carnivorous will always be in my heart.

Strudel, Oh God Laurel and Hardy, what is it with you Europeans and slapstick comedy? That's why you are all so anti-semetic. The jews are so damn smart and they do satire and irony so well. I just hate slapstick, its so stupid!

Just you wait, the Airbus is going to bomb, big time. The French can't do anything right! Beside it's ironic, if you get irony, that the French are even supplying our defense contractors. I thought you were all anti-war, well at anti American war. You don't seem to mind when you make war on yourselves.

1 ) Free Afghanistan ! (i.e. the puppet Karzaï should be ousted)

BTW, as anyone knows, if the occupation army leaves Kabul, puppet Karzaï will be able to stay alive 20 something minutes...

2) Laurel and Hardy are really fine but the greatest ever is Jerry Lewis ! We love him.

3) "Socialist" Europe created Airbus in the 70s. Nowadays, this compagny share the first place with Boeing...

Reminds me Air France, previously state owned compagny, now nº 1 in the world...

Or EDF, nº 1 too...

Or Areva maybe...

Renault ?

GDF ?

Jerry Lewis is the worst! I just can't understand the attraction, Anon.

Airbus is going to be a major debacle soon enough. Just you wait.

Airbus is going to be a major debacle soon enough++++++++++++

It builds very decent planes and share half of the market with Boeing...

BTW, you´re wrong about Afghanistan.

Afghanis do not socialize with americans because americans score killed score of them... A french friend of mine was there a couple of years ago : people in the villages told him "don´t go there (specific location) it´s dangerous"

"talibans?" used to ask my friend.

"no : american soldiers" answered the afghanis...

Let´s face the truth : Karzaï is a puppet (Maureen Dowd of the New York Times is right on this one).

Afghanis have the right to choose THEIR govt !

Afghanis have the right to be free in THEIR country !

In March 2006, the French Minister of Culture awarded Lewis the "Legion of Honor," calling him the "French people's favorite clown."

Jerry Lewis rules !

So, Anon, you like Jerry Lewis and the Taliban. Why particularly? What is good about them?

Talibans are afghan.

I don´t want them to rule France.

I don´t want Bush to rule Afghanistan nor Irak.
