In fact, the Jihadists don't need to retake Spain, I am sure the Spanish will give it to them without a fight. Please, please don't hurt us any more! We surrender! Not very macho of them. The first thing that the Islamists will do is eliminate gay marriage. Perhaps it will take a lavender revolution to stop them. The sissies probably have more balls than the average Spaniard!

Well, I suppose it’s obvious that I must discuss some of your points, Miss C, although by other side I also understand that the general impression is pretty much correct.
One. The evidence demonstrates that the expansionist Islam --that’s, the majority Islam-- pretends recover for Allah not just the lost domains --like for instance Andalusia, if well this place was previously Christian--, but also the lands of which they think being the legitimate owners (read here the whole world; a long time ago I read an article written by the secretary of Spanish Muslims associations, a converse psychiatrist; in this article, the guy announced pompously the necessity of recapture Latin American, since in his very personal opinion that remote land was not enough Christianized [and hearing Evo Morales, I think it’s possible the psychiatrist is quite right]). Aznar, conservative ex president of the Government and, by the way, Bush’s close friend, said at Georgetown University that the point of origin of 11M terrorist attacks was neither Afghanistan nor Iraq nor Al-Qaeda, but the XV century, when Spain was definitively recovered for the Cross and the Muslims was expelled of the peninsula. The ex president was vastly mocked because of this opinion (even although so many people thought the same thing). Probably the ex president was right.
Two. Spain is a nation extremely contradictory and diverse, and very anarchic in many senses. So speaking about Spaniards with an only sentence or using an only idea to describing all of us is a good way to misunderstand our nature. I can be very simplistic about my own country due to passionate motivations, but I could also be very simplistic too when I try observing and analyzing USA. I could think that Kerry is the perfect example of the average American, even if it’s quite evident that the average American is not so rich, so tall and so away from reality (still worse, I could also think that Michael Moore is the average American!).
Three. The Spanish mass media are vastly leftists. We conservative have not just very little ways of showing our opinions, but also we are continually teased. But the fact is that we are not a minority; although it sounds absurd, we are a sort of majority without voice. The number of leftists and rightists are more or less the same, and for example the socialists have no a absolute majority right now, so they see themselves obligated to pact with little parties to can form Government. There are a big number of regional parties here in Spain, and they use to have a certain influence due to they are necessaries to constitute a firm Government. And many of this parties are Catholic and rightists (plus pro-independence, right). What I mean is that the image of a solidly leftist and homogenous country don’t fit the reality. One more time, the problem here is that it’s very common to many Spaniards to see and think that, in fact, there is not diversity. But that is just a mass-media-mirage (Miss C, imagine, we have a national CNN called CNN Plus!). Even after 11M attacks, at 14M elections, the socialists got 10909687; the conservatives, 9630512 [the third party with more votes, IU, basically the communists, got 1219000, followed by the fourth party, CiU, catholic, rightist and pro-independence, which got less than 900000 votes]. It is a minimum difference, specially if we consider a few things: a) a lot of people who have never voted before, voted for first time (I’m referring to people without politic compromise); b) the most successful mass media here offered false news, yes, FALSE NEWS; they said, for example, that a few Muslims suicides had been found in the bombed trains.
One, two, three. Well, what I try demonstrate is that the homogenous image of Spain is neither exact nor cabal. I’m sure that we would put off a strong resistance against an clear war attack, but a lot of my compatriots, in the same way that a lot of your own, have, on one hand, a limited focus of the reality, and on the other hand, a strongly interiorized hate for themselves and for the occidental and basically Christian ideas. In conclusion, it’s pretty right to say that a enormous number of Spaniards was /is coward and ridiculous against the Islamist threat, but you have to turn the coin to see also the other side (you’ll see my face, probably).
I am seeing it here in the news in America and Americans are cowards too. The constant moaning over the deaths of people that despise you is ridiculous. The talking heads on the news shows are going on about the superiority of the Arabs news outlets and how ours are biased toward Israel, and the Arabs are so "nuanced" nuanced means delicate and important diferences of circumstances, none of which the Muslims are able to distinguish. Israelis bad, Muslims good, end of discussion! The whole civilized world is falling into the trap. They are like the Germans in 1930's Germany.
