When they kick out your front door, how ya gonna come? With your hands on your head or on the trigger of your gun?
I was reading David Mamet's book, Wicked Son, a month ago and he metioned how insane it is that Jews are for gun control. He thinks every Jew should own a gun to defend himself with should the need ever arise again. The very same Jews that decry the blindness of their people for not realizing the danger of Hitler before it was too late and blame them for giving in so meekly, do not seem to understand the need for private citizens to own guns.
One thing is sure, if the government or mobs of vigilantes decided to attack inner city Black neighborhoods, it would be a very foolish move because there are hundreds of thousands of guns in the houses of Black people. Black people could and would defend themselves. They would never go meekly.
I can't understand how a leftist or liberals can say that it is understandable for Arabs to attack America, but it is not understandable that Jews need a country of their own and a military to protect it. Why does the left forgive atrocities commited by Iraqi insurgents against their own people but despise Israel for defending itself against attackers. The left doesn't cut Jews any slack at all. Maybe it's because the Israelis are too much like us. Not brown enough for the left. That's probably why they never championed the Kurds either. They are not enough of "the other" to qualify for the "free to commit atrocity" pass.
It seems to me if any people can be forgiven their trespasses it's the Jews, historically the most oppressed and endangered people on earth.

I think, Ms. C., that "the world" only likes (tolerates) Jews when they are weak, oppressed and at the mercy of their host governments. Israel is strong in its military and brain power and that is something that the left especially cannot stand. For the left weak and oppressed is good and strong and in control is bad. I myself have thought about getting a gun and going to the range to learn how to use it. It's not something that I have shared with others though. Someday I may do it.
I've listened in and joined this topic many times. I have an uncle who is an ultra republican (yes an egyptian republican), owns guns for his personal safety but believes jews are big on gun control exactly because of the holocaust. The theory is that in todays world they do not fear the governments aggression but the aggression of average citizens who might turn on them out of anger, bitterness, jealousy, whatever. Take ur pic of excuses.
So yes if you feared the Government you would be Pro-Gun, this is the basis of right to bare arms. However if you know the Government will always defend you but fear the common citizen then gun control would certainly be in your favor. See how it works? ;)
I think that if your neighbor is armed and you might end up at his mercy during a neighborly dispute, You would definitely want to be armed as well. Witness the neighborly disputes that go on in Palestine and Afghanistan. Your neighbor reports you as a terrorist or an Israeli collaborater and poof either your neighbors, the military or the government comes to fetch you. I would go out shooting. Karen, yes the left loves weakness because it makes them feel good about themselves to feel pity for someone, especially the brown peoples. I notice the holier than thou attitude among my liberal co-workers. If I say I don't feel sorry for bad people, like Tookie Williams, my co-workers look at me like I am dirt. They are oh so superior because they have empathy for murderous thugs. I guess that nmeans than liberals have a lot of murderous impulses and can sympathize. Pretty scary.
The left has never been traditionally friendly toward the Jews even before Israel. because the Jews were also successful merchants and money lenders and the merchant class has always been despised.
Sho since many Arabs in the US are conservative many of them are Republicans. I talk to a lot of Arabs that support Bush, because Bush is a Christian. We just don't hear about those Arabs on the evening news.
Not all Jews were successful merchants or money lenders. In pre-World War Two Europe, there were more poor Jews than rich. None of my great grandparents were rich. They were seamstresses and tailors and unemployed widows who took in laundry. And keep in mind that in many European countries Jews were not allowed to own land and their admission to Universities was limited (as it was in the U.S.). Thus, business and money lending were some ways to make a living.
