Here is an article from the San Francisco Chronicle wherein Afghan, Burmese and Iraqi immigrants, sponsored by Arco and brought to Oakland to work in gas stations in bad neighborhoods under the pretense of getting them out of dangerous war zones, state that they just have jumped from the fat into the fire and that Oakland is every bit as dangerous and as much of a war zone as Iraq, Burma and Afghanistan.

Lefties are suddenly realizing that they've been rooting for the wrong side in Iran

They are still clueless. They have switched sides without thinking things through as they are often wont to do. They actually think that Ahmadinejad lost the election. They have always underestimated the religiosity and nationalism of people in other countries and they continue to do so.

I gotta news flash for them. The majority of Iranians love, or at least, like, that hairy monkey, Ahmadinejad, just like the Western left used to. Right up until the news of the Iranian election became the shot heard round the world and the left here in America saw that the Iranians who opposed Ahmadinejad were closer in idealogy to Western liberals than the right-wing ayatollahs and their figurehead president.

Remember when the leftists were slobbering over Ahmadinejad after he insulted Bush. The lefty blogs like the Huffington Post were full of commenters expressing nothing but glowing admiration for him. They were very much in support of the fascist, totalitarian religious regime and police state of Iran as long as it opposed their sworn enemy, Bush.

Now the left is jumping off Ahmadinejad like rats from a sinking ship, or fleas from a dead cat, and pretending to have been against him all along.

I call bullshit on them.

While I was waiting for the bus on Monday, a young, blond German man in shorts came up to me and asked if I knew where he could catch a certain bus. Unfortunately, it is a bus that travels slowly through the most dangerous parts of Oakland. He informed me he didn't want to take the Rapid Transit train.

The train, although not without danger, is far, far safer. Especially for a white guy and a foreigner to boot.

I thought about telling him he shouldn't take the bus, but pondered how to word the warning. Finally I just said I was sorry and did not know where he could catch the bus.

When I relayed the story to my co-workers today, one of them was upset. "That's not right. That's not right, he said. You should have warned him. You gotta have love."
